Kenyecta D. Smith, P-LPC
I am a P-LPC (provisionally licensed professional counselor) in the state of Mississippi working under the supervision of Carisha Williams, LPC-S. I accept Cigna, Aetna and private pay clients.
The Counseling Relationship
Life is about balance. When things feel unbalanced, it is time to reach out for support. Maybe you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed or just ready for a change. Whatever you are feeling, I am here to offer a helping hand. I offer empathy and support in a non-judgmental space where we can work together to promote your success. Together, we will identify your strengths and use these to help you achieve your goals. We will also identify areas in which you need new skills or extra support and then collaborate to create a plan that will help you grow and progress in these areas.
A successful counseling relationship is built on trust and honesty. I promise to protect your privacy, be honest with you and work with you to create an individualized treatment plan that suits your unique needs. I will always strive to engage with you in meaningful conversations that provide insight and encouragement as we work towards your personal goals.
My personal approach to counseling involves utilizing various techniques such as focusing on the future to resolve current situations and increasing self-awareness to change unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors. I help people address a variety of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, communication and relationship issues.
In sessions, I utilize several techniques and modalities including:
- Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
- Trauma-Focus Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- AutPlay Therapy
- Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy
- Person-Centered
I have more than 10 years of experience working with children, teens, and adults in the education field as a professional school counselor. I have also served in a community mental health setting providing services in a residential, acute, intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization program in Memphis, Tennessee. I currently specialize in working with children, teens, and families experiencing difficulties associated with issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, as well as the neurodivergent population.
